What are Inlays and Onlays?

Dental Inlays are an exciting alternative to unsightly metal fillings. Made of a tooth-colored composite, Inlays seal fillings or decay on the top edges of the tooth. Unlike regular fillings, Inlays are undetectable and have strengthening properties that actually improve the strength and health of the overall tooth.

Onlays are slightly more extensive than Inlays in that they spread over the top edges of the tooth to provide protection and sealant to more of the tooth. Made from high quality ceramic or porcelain, our Onlays are custom made to fit each tooth and are permanently bonded to seal and restore the damaged area.

The Procedure

During your first visit, we will examine the area and take x-rays and impressions of your tooth in order to create an exact mold for your new Inlay or Onlay. During this time, we will also remove any remaining decay or broken or metal fillings. We will apply a temporary filling to protect your tooth while your customized Inlay and Onlay is created.

When your Inlay or Onlay is ready, you will come in to have it placed. Your dentist will carefully fill the cavity or damaged area with your new Inlay or Onlay. Be sure to check for any discomfort so your Dentist can make proper adjustments. Once you and your Dentist are satisfied, your Inlay will be permanently cemented in place.

After the Procedure

Our Las Vegas Inlays and Onlays are made from quality materials that are made to last. Maintaining your new Inlay or Onlay requires no special care.
